As Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) celebrates its 73rd anniversary, one of the country’s largest radio broadcast companies continues to write its story of growth and service this time, by expanding its reach in Luzon with the opening of two new FM stations in Lucena and Vigan.
From a humble community station in Cagayan seven decades ago, RMN has grown into a nationwide network of 65 stations, 44 of which are network-owned that speak in 10 hyperlocal languages. This deep connection with local communities has been the backbone of RMN’s hyperlocal growth strategy, a legacy that continues with its latest expansions.
In Lucena City, home to the vibrant Pasayahan Festival, RMN launched iFM 106.3 Lucena, its 43rd hyperlocal community station, 24th FM station nationwide, and 7th iFM station in Luzon. The station is a hybrid format that combines news and music, serving listeners in Lucena, Sariaya, Pagbilao, Tayabas, Candelaria, and Lucban, with extended coverage in neighboring areas like Tiaong, Majayjay, Padre Burgos, Atimonan, Plaridel, and Gumaca.
During the iFM Lucena’s station launch, Eric S. Canoy, Chairman and President of RMN Networks, shared the network’s vision for Lucena:
“Coming here to Lucena is a slightly long journey. We planned 5 years ago, and finally, we are here. But what is more important is our chance to prove to you our brand of RMN public service, here in this part of south Luzon. We’re here to work with you to help the communities. We’re here to do public service aside from providing news, information and entertainment. Hopefully, you give us a chance to prove to you the RMN brand of public service—Tatak RMN.”
Meanwhile, in the heritage city of Vigan, iFM 105.3 Vigan officially became the 8th iFM station in Luzon and the 44th network-owned station of RMN. Broadcasting from the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the station’s coverage spans Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, and parts of Abra and La Union, ensuring that RMN’s brand of hyperlocal content and public service resonates across Northern Luzon.
“RMN will continue on its advocacy to expand radio to continuously spread right information and public service in many areas in the Philippines,” Canoy emphasized during the inauguration of iFM Vigan.
Looking ahead, RMN is set on achieving another milestone by expanding to more network-owned stations by its 75th anniversary in 2027.
With these new stations, RMN reaffirms its role not just as a broadcasting giant but as a partner in nation-building connecting Filipinos through the power of radio, hyperlocal storytelling, and nation building through public service.
